Eco-Easter series: Goodies!
In a previous post we discussed ideas for greening Easter baskets – now lets get to the good stuff: what’s inside.
When selecting goodies for your little bunny’s basket, consider the following:
- Think quality over quantity (one large organic, fair trade chocolate egg is healthier, better for the planet and costs less than a basket full of conventional confections).
- Give preference to local and organic foods.
- Look for edibles in the least amount of packaging. If you can make it yourself or find it in the bulk section, you get extra green points.
- What isn’t consumed should be composted, rather than put into the trash.
- Instead of tossing the wrappers, search the Internet for all the cool things you make out of them (such as purses) or other functional art.
