Eco-easter series: green gifts for under $10
Yesterday we gave you our top picks for green Easter basket goodies and today we’ll share with you our top picks for non-edibles (we call ‘em “treasures”).
As it is with food, whenever possible, look for treasures that are Earth-friendly, Fair Trade (or ethically made) and local while giving preference to items that:
- Have limited or no packaging
- Are of quality and can be enjoyed for a long time
- Don’t require other disposable or soon-to-be obsolete parts (such as batteries or electronic components)
Instead of giving treasures, you may want to let you children hunt for “Bunny money” that they can cash-in for gifts of experience of their choosing (a trip to the museum, zoo, the movies, etc.). But keep in mind that treasures don’t have to cost a dime. Coupons for time spent together can be a wonderful treat for busy families. Here is a list of some creative, no-cost ideas.
