A.J. Wanamaker: Reviewer extraordinaire

A.J. Wanamaker is a lifelong environmentalist who spent her childhood glued to Jacques Cousteau’s TV specials and Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom and, as a PR guru, grew up to work with some of her animal welfare heroes.

A.J. has continued her dedication to the health of our planet and all its living inhabitants with decades of personal environmental vigilance and vegetarianism as well as volunteering, fundraising and campaigning for passage of key legislation such as spay/neuter laws, plastic bag bans, and countless other crucial environmental, animal welfare, and social justice issues. She notes, “No matter how bad a day I have, even the smallest brush with nature refreshes me.” Through her writing, she is now helping guide others as they begin living in harmony with our natural world.

She hates to be photographed and treasures “being like Charlie on Charlie’s Angels…behind the scenes, but always lending my big mouth for a just cause.” Therefore, this photo may or may not be her. Then again, it could be a random woman terrorized by a frog watering can. No one can be sure.

Jocelyn Broyles: Personal care products guru

Jocelyn Broyles writes for several projects, including TheGreenExtract.com and Care2.com. She speaks out for animal rights, women’s rights, food and water safety, and education regarding toxins in our personal care and household products.

Jocelyn actively practices sustainable and Green living in her daily life, by living in a 320 sq. ft. cottage; growing organic foods; composting by vermiculture; using only 100% organic and all natural body products and cleaning products; buying locally sourced and grown food and other products whenever possible; and sticking to a one-year old pledge to never again buy another plastic water bottle.

Kia Robertson: Food and recipes

Kia is a mom, children’s book author and the creator of the kit—a tool that helps parents establish healthy habits by setting the goal of eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables every day.

She is passionate about creating tools that help parents raise healthy kids. She admits to having been a picky eater for most of her life so she is uniquely qualified to shed some light on that subject and offer tips on how to help parents navigate the picky waters.

Kia also has recently taken up cooking with her husband Jamie, and is enjoying trying out new recipes. A big believe in the importance of getting kids into the kitchen, she provides fun recipes in her videos called In The Rainbow Kitchen.

An advocate for the real food movement, Amy is passionate about the effects of a nutrient-dense diet and non-toxic lifestyle on both our bodies and the planet. Her own lifelong health challenges were overcome by adopting a traditional, nutrient-dense diet and non-toxic lifestyle and this encouraged her to help others achieve their own wellness goals.

She brings a background in massage therapy and related modalities, energy healing and inspired life coaching to her nutritional therapy practice. Amy has a passion for self and family wellness on all levels- physical, mental, emotional and spiritual- and offers support for the whole family with a special emphasis on natural fertility, pregnancy and post-partum care.

Alicia Bravo: Celebrating simple moments

celebrate-green-aliciaAlicia Bravo is a new mommy who is passionate about educating moms on how to be a “natural mommy in a mainstream world.” She has worked in the natural foods industry for the last four years but has been living a natural healthy lifestyle for over seven years. Alicia and her husband, along with their beautiful daughter, live in coastal San Diego.

Alicia is an advocate for saving our planet and believes that giving back and volunteering your time is the best way to provide for people and planet. In her day to day, she feels she makes a difference by being herself and expressing her passions.

Alicia is a vegetarian and in addition to spending time with her family, enjoys practicing yoga, going to the beach and blogging on her blog, www.naturalmommy.blogspot.com.

Ivy Colwell-Lipson, canine contributor: Celebrating green from the non-human perspective

Ivy is a passionate green living expert who believes that healthy animals make a healthy planet. And what makes a healthy animal? “In my humble opinion, the number one requirement is plenty of sleep interrupted by brief periods of exercise and of course, three healthy gluten-free meals a day preferably consisting of chicken and cheese.”

Known for her low-key personality, Ivy prefers to spread the gospel of green by action rather than by words.

She’s totally into grass (the kind that grows in the backyard) and refuses to wear a plastic collar or drink bottled water. She fights fleas naturally and gets a kick out of testing products for this blog.

Annette Frey: Celebrating pets

In addition to Ivy, Annette Frey does periodic posts for us. Annette is the founder and chief canine confectioner of Biscuits by Lambchop, creating healthy treats for any dogs that are formulated with special needs in mind so no dog is ever left out.

With a physical therapy background Annette went into action researching and finding a solution when her own dog Lambchop became ill and needed his diet completely revamped. But balancing his meals wasn’t enough; Lambchop needed a treat reward that supported all his varied dietary needs but that he loved! Annette took to the kitchen came up with a biscuit that met all his complicated needs. It wasn’t until other dogs started pawing at her door that she knew she couldn’t keep Lambchop’s biscuits to herself (and Lamby). She now advocates a healthy, natural lifestyle for all dogs.
