Bits & pieces for February
Random news, heads-up thoughts, ideas and other stuff I want to share that doesn’t fit elsewhere. Enjoy!
1. Pinterest
Everybody’s talking about Pinterest. Corey and I are on there via our names, not Celebrate Green! and honestly, I’m finding it very useful, not to mention interesting and fun. Mostly I’m using it for inspiration for things to craft and even ideas for the blog. How about you?
2. Monsanto
If you’ve been hearing bits and pieces about Monsanto and how our food supply is being taken over and poisoned by this company and others, but aren’t sure about the details, this post is a great one for basic information, but also give ideas about what you can do.
3. Savor the Success
So many women develop a business from their passion that it seems like there should be a formula to guarantee success. I can tell you there simply is not. But what can help is being among a supportive group of others who have been down the path and are willing to give of themselves to help you succeed. Of all the online help for female entrepreneurs, I’ve found Savor the Success to be the best possible spot. Women are screened. There is minimal pressure to buy from others in the network. It really is all about the individuals succeeding. There are free and paid memberships. Check it out and if you have questions, let me know.
4. HealthyLife.net
February was the last month for our Celebrate Green! show for HealthyLife.net radio. We loved doing it, but our priorities are shifting and we just couldn’t give it the attention it deserved. We’re crossing our fingers that one of our recommendations will be chosen to replace us, but happily, they do want another “green” to
pic show in the spot. There are many other great shows on this network so stop by and listen anytime.
5. Good
Good is the network “for people who give a damn.’ Love it, don’t you? In January I committed to going through my list of emails that I subscribed to and unsubscribing to most. Great as they may be, it just takes way too much time to read them. Good is one that stayed on my list because it brings a daily dose of interesting content that I can’t resist.
6. Photo 365
I have a lot of iPhone apps I enjoy, but one of my favorites is now Photo 365. It’s a simple concept and one I didn’t think I’d become so attached to. It’s like a visual diary of your year. You snap one photo a day, then it’s placed into a calendar. At the beginning it was hard to remember to take the picture, but once I got used to it, it was (forgive the pun), a snap! It’s a no-waste diary. Simple fun and memory-builder rolled into this handy app.
7. Plant sale
Our local Conservation District has a terrific annual sale on native plants where the prices can’t be beat. If you have room for even a few plants, choose native for the most potential success for your climate and soil conditions. If you can get seeds, roots or small plants from friends and neighbors, that’s terrific. If not, look for local agencies that might provide them at low cost.
