Crafty ideas for Presidents’ Day

by Lynn

One of my favorite activities on holidays is to gather the family and craft. Unfortunately most of my kin isn’t available today or I’d be doing it. But I just might try one or two of these on my own!

1. Future President Pin I think these could be so much fun and a confidence booster too! (You’ve got to have a goal if you’re going to reach it, right?) Instructions from Kaboose, a site filled with ideas. (Aside: Also way too many ads with annoying sound for my taste.)

2. Powdered wig If your kids are into dress up, this would be a fun addition to their trunk. I’d only make it though if I had the “ingredients” on hand and if it would be used more than once. Protect it in a fabric bag or or box so the cotton balls don’t fall off. Directions from Free Kids Crafts.

3. Presidents’ Day lunch Love this idea from Cookie Cutter Lunch. In general, serving lunch to toddlers in compartments seems like a really fun concept.

4. Presidents Day garland What’s a celebration these days without a garland? And this one could do double duty. The one pictured is made from fabric via Paisley Handmade, but you could easily craft one from paper and of course, save it to be used again for July 4th!

5. Patriotic baby shoes If you’ve got the fabric, the time and a girl baby to put them on, how could you not make these adorable shoes? But if you have neither the inclination or materials, you can purchase from All Things for Baby.

6. Uncle Sam yard art I made this for July 4th from items I had on hand, but I just may make another today to accompany it. Easy and fun with whatever tools and scraps you have on hand.
