Celebrate treehouses

We were lucky enough the other day to be given a guided tour of a new private event center and overnight retreat just outside of Seattle. The setting is gorgeous, but the most wonderful feature of this facility is two treehouses to rent.

Conceived by Pete Nelson, renowned worldwide for teaching treehouse building, Treehouse Point is paradise if you dream of spending a night or more curled above the forest floor.

There is something absolutely magical about this place, located less than 25 miles from the traffic, noise and bustle of Seattle. The two treehouses (eventually they hope to have a total of eight), are perfectly situated with views through the trees to the river beyond. If you wander the paths around the property, you’ll come upon seemingly secret spots where you can sit and ponder nature’s wonders or just lie back and relax.

A comfortable, nicely decorated main house serves as a gathering place for special events, weddings, or meetings for up to 40 people. A more intimate, private setting is difficult to imagine.

Aside from the setting and the treehouses, what we love best is the commitment to sustainability we saw everywhere, from the furnishings made from reclaimed wood, to the care take in erecting the treehouses on old trees as well as organic and local foods served for special events, Pete and his crew are into green as you will be when you visit.

Until April 1, treehouses rent for $155 a night. After that, the price goes up to $195 including breakfast.

Check out the video we shot on our visit to get a better idea of what Treehouse Point is like.
