If you love candy and you’ve never heard of Sjaaks, get yourself over to their website as soon as you finish reading this post. That’s an order!

Seriously, Sjaaks is one of the first organic chocolate companies we came across when we wrote Celebrate Green! and have been mad for their products and them, ever since. How could you not fall in love with these people!

Now Sjaaks has introduced organic, Fair Trade Eli’s Earth Bars. (If you’re a label reader, you’ll also want to know that the palm oil is sustainably sourced from Spectrum.) These candy bars are just the right size to quell your chocolate cravings without feeling that you’ve over-indulged.

You may or may not know, I’m not a chocolate lover, but since the bars came to me and not Corey, I was forced to try them. And I will report that honestly, they were wonderful.

The flavors of the nuts, coconut, caramel and almonds were not dulled by the overwhelming taste of chocolate. The chocolate seemed somehow to enhance their flavors. Not being a food scientist, I can’t vouch that this can even happen, but my mouth spoke my personal truth which is that nothing stood out like a sore thumb, but rather every element contributed like every instrument in an orchestra.

This is a candy bar meant to be savored, not gobbled down in a crazed frenzy of chocolate-need.
