According to my stepdad, my mother had a PhD in shopping.
Me? When it comes to shopping-as-fun or shopping-as-therapy, I never left kindergarten.
But lately, with the terrific growth in Earth-friendlier options for just about anything we might want, I’ve found myself drawn to the iconic Everywoman”s passion right after shoes (of which I own fewer than my husband)-handbags.
What catches my eye might be made from organic cotton, hemp, recycled fabric, polyester from recycled plastic bottles or even “cruelty free leather,” (i.e. not made from animals), in bright colors or sporting fanciful design.
So no big surprise that last summer, when I came across this bag from Reveal, I fell hard.
Reveal’s goal is to make the most stylish products while mitigating environmental impact. They use recycled materials when possible. and materials from non-polluting, renewable resources when recycled is not available. They also plant a tree for every item sold.
I like the fact that you can read about the materials for each bag on the website, so you know what you’re getting.
I bought the bag and honestly, really like it. The size is perfect. I know that what’s “in,” is a bag the size of a small nation, but since I realized years ago that carrying a purse that weighed more than I did, contributed to painful and sloping shoulders, I’ve opted for back-packs or smaller bags, thumbing my nose at the world’s runways. This bag carries my essentials and more. (Of course, I’m not the mom of young children. When I was, what I really could have used was a purse on wheels!)
