Secret letter gift
My husband soon will be winging his way to China and I’ve made him a gift that I will sneak into his suitcase once it’s packed.
I suppose I shouldn’t call it a “gift,” since one of the reasons I do it is to ensure that at least once a day, he’ll think of me!
In the early days of our marriage, these secret stashes often consisted of complicated games and episodic stories. Over the years I’ve simplified, but I always try to remember to include something for him to open each day he’s gone.
In honor of his heading to the Far East, I thought about fortune cookies and decided to fill an envelope with wise sayings attributed to Confucius.
The idea is that once a day while he’s gone, he’ll open the envelope, remove a quote and ponder its deep meaning. Or not.
It’s a simple item to prepare and one that keeps us connected though we’re very far apart.
Do you do anything like this for your partner when he/she is away?
