Give your skin the gift of LaVigne
We stumbled upon LaVigne Organic Skincare at a healthy living expo in Portland two years ago and have been fans ever since.
For starters we love that the company is run by a mother-daughter team. (Yeah for mothers and daughters!) Secondly, we love the interesting story behind LaVigne and the core ingredient (Tepezcohuite) used in most of their products. We also love their satisfaction guarantee (important with body care products). Mostly, we love the fact that their products work.
How do we know?
We’ve tried them. (The DMAE Advanced Firming Cream and Intensive Eye Cream are our faves.)
Our friends have tried them, too.
Here is a story from one of those friends who used LaVigne’s Mayan Magic Healing Balm on her daughter’s eczema.
My two-year old daughter’s eczema is so visible I am often offered advice and creams by well-meaning friends and strangers. This is how I’ve come to try so many different remedies, from over-the-counter to prescription strength, from the very natural to those filled with steroids and preservatives. Most did not work at all, and some stung so much I couldn’t bear to try them more than once.
What I found worked best up to this point was very simple and natural, a creamy shea butter with a little organic coconut oil. This worked very well at moisturizing her dry skin, but was not particularly helpful if she had a flare-up and itchy skin. Once itchy, my daughter could not help but scratch, quickly breaking the skin and causing bleeding, setting off cycles of itching and scratching. Inflamed patches often stayed red and itchy for weeks, becoming thickened and unsightly.
Recently after an extended period of inflammation, I was happy to try something new. When I looked at the jar of Mayan Magic, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was basically what worked best for us already, but with added Tepezcohuite. I was excited to see if Tepezcohuite would have any effect.
Slipping into my research mode, I took photos before I started using the cream and took mental notes on what I observed. I noticed a reduction in redness, lessening of itching and skin thickening, and faster healing of skin. On many areas, the cream worked very quickly and effectively, in a matter of days.
When I went online to research Tepezcohuite, I was again pleasantly surprised to find the effects I noted were exactly as described by various sources.
My daughter’s toughest spots are not completely blemish-free yet after two weeks, but they are well on their way. The patches of skin that had been constantly red, warm, and thickened, are no longer warm to the touch. I am most grateful my daughter is no longer scratching as often or as aggressively. The cream breaks the cycle of itching and scratching, allowing the skin to heal much more quickly.
I have also tried it with success on big knee scrapes and other cuts to lessen the pain and speed the healing.
My daughter’s atopic eczema is caused by food sensitivities and heat, affecting skin creases such as the inside of her elbows, wrists, back of knees and the top of her feet. In addition to preventative measures of watching her foods and making sure she stays cool, I am very happy to finally to have the missing piece, something to lessen and control any flare-ups quickly. Mayan Magic has quickly become an important part of our routine.
