Make Your Mom an Eco-Friendly
"Monster Pendant" Competition Kicks off March 1
Renton, Washington-February 26, 2009- Lynn and Corey Colwell, co-authors of Celebrate Green! Creating Eco-Savvy Holidays, Celebrations and Traditions for the Whole Family, (CelebrateGreen.net), and online jewelry boutique, Blend Creations (BlendCreations.com), are co-hosting an online competition starting on March 1, to find the artist who can draw the most popular illustration for a stainless steel Metal for Monsters pendant to be made by Blend Creations.
Unlike its name could imply, a Metal for Monsters pendant (MetalForMonsters.com), isn't 'bling' for Bigfoot. It is Blend Creations‘ effort to raise money for UNICEF with both limited-edition stainless steel pendants and customizable "Make Your Own" versions. These eco-friendly pendants (made of recycled and recyclable stainless steel), feature illustrated fantastical creatures- in this case, we're looking for an artist to create a creature that will signify something special to a very special mom, or show how cherished the mother-child bond can be.
To enter the competition:
· Go to metalformonsters.com/mom or CelebrateGreen.net/m4m, download the PDF and follow the directions
· Submit entries between March 1st and March 17th
· Vote online at celebrategreen.net/vote and metalformonsters.com/momvote between March 18th-April 7th
Winners will be announced on April 8, 2009.
This art competition is open to professional and amateur artists of all ages. The artist whose work receives the most votes along with one lucky voter (chosen at random), will become the proud owners of a pendant, laser-engraved with the most popular illustration. In addition to the pendant, the winners also will receive, a copy of Celebrate Green! Creating Eco-Savvy Holidays, Celebrations and Traditions for the Whole Family. If your design doesn't win the vote, you are welcome to purchase your entry art as a pendant.
Blend Creations is the collaborative effort of husband and wife team Vivian Cheng and Eric Jean-Louis. These two blend their passions and proficiencies, their Francophone and Asian heritage and the organic and industrial to create their stainless steel jewelry. Blend Creations has been offering its Metal for Monsters line since October 2008; with the "Make Your Own" version introduced shortly after the initial launch to give anyone an opportunity to see their drawing on their own custom pendant. For every Metal for Monsters pendant sold, $16 benefits UNICEF.
