Two awesome giveaways from Celebrate Green! Cameras to record your celebration and a terrific composter
When it rains it pours (as anyone who lives in Seattle can tell you right about now!). And it's raining giveaways at Celebrate Green!
First of all, if you're planning an event in the next few months--wedding, graduation, family reunion, big birthday bash--you'll want to enter to w-i-n a package worth $500 from www.CameraRenter.com.
CameraRenter will send you ten digital cameras. Your guests snap away (photos and videos). Send back the cameras in the pre-paid package and the pix are uploaded for you and your friends to download, print out at home or order copies. Check it out here, then sign up using the form in the right hand column of the blog or website.
Next, a rotating composter from Clean Air Gardening valued at $170.00. Due to shipping costs, this one is open only to residents of the contiguous 48 U.S. states, but wow! If you've ever thought about composting, this is your chance.
If you don't have room for a composter, w-i-n it and donate it to a school or organization. Read about it and make a comment to enter.
Father's Day ideas to make or purchase
If you've got a guitar pickin' dad, we've got an easy DIY project that you can whip up in an afternoon and that will put the meaning in the greening (and in the pickin').
And if you're looking for the perfect gift for the dad who loves to cook, in Celebrate Green's Open Sky shop, we're offering the world's best apple peeler. Seriously, this device has opened up the world of apple pie making to Corey's dad (Lynn's husband) and put him in serious contention for the world's best apple pie maker
We also encourage you to think about spending time creating memories with your dad this Father's Day. Try a new activity with him--geocaching is Lynn's new favorite and one many dads and families enjoy together.
Whatever you do, think green--wrap his gift in a shirt instead of paper, make him a card from something you already own, join him in a physical activity, host a no waste dinner. When you plan ahead, it's easy to celebrate in ways that are great for dad and the Earth.
Green Halloween is changing the way America's kids celebrate
We're well on our way to our goal of replacing one million units of conventional candy with healthier, kid-approved and more eco-friendly treats and treasure options at zoo and aquarium Halloween events around the U.S.
Companies including LARABAR, Cascadian Farm, Pirates Booty, Glee Gum, Mr. Ellie Pooh, Weisenbach Printing, and Surf Sweets are partnering with Green Halloween to ensure that Halloween keeps all the fun but is healthier for kids and the planet.
Be sure to let us know if you'd like to help your community think outside the conventional candy box.
Your good deed for the day: Help us grow
We're thrilled that so many people love what we're doing and our ideas around creating meaningful, green celebrations and special events. But if you'd like to help spread the message, here are a few things you can do. Any single one would be appreciated!

Celebrate Green! radio celebrates everything green
Be sure to listen to our radio show live on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. PST or download via iTunes. We continue to invite intelligent, informative, fun guests and while we have a great time, we always learn something and know that our listeners do to.
This week, we've got Jennifer Berry from Earth 911, which started as a recycling hotline and has grown into a website with everything you want to know about recycling and greening your life. Next up is Tom Kelly who, after years of experience working with poisonous chemical fertilizers developed a unique organic lawn care system. With summer on its way (at least that's what we hear--no proof of it in the Seattle area), the timing is perfect.
We hope you'll listen and if you or someone you know would make a great guest, just let us know.

We've got a sensational alternative for you. It's the Celebrate Reclaimed Silver necklace from Barbara Michelle Jacobs.
The necklace features an actual beech seed encased in recycled silver on a recycled silver chain.
Invite your child's classmates' parents to share the expense of giving a teacher your child will never forget, a gift the teacher will always remember.
