Take the Buy Local pledge

This is an initiative of Sustainable Seattle, but you don't have to live here to take a pledge to buy local. Doing so is a boon to your local economy and helps preserve the environment by keeping down the costs both monetary and physical of shipping.

A fabulous freebie from the Read Green Initiative

You can get a one year subscription to an online version of a magazine from the Read Green Alliance for absolutely nothing. And if you purchase a one year digital subscription to an additional magazine, a tree will be planted.

When someone asks "What have you been up to," we reply, "Do you have a week?"
The last few weeks have left us breathless (also sleepless) with excitement. Here's a brief overview of what's been going on:

  • We shot a segment for a company that syndicates news briefs to TV stations around the U.S. Unfortunately, we won't know what stations are going to use the piece. So if you're in bed one night watching the news and you spot two familiar faces yakking about celebrating a green Christmas, you won't be hallucinating. It will be us!
  • We shot a video to use for several reasons including posting on YouTube. For the first time in our lives, we had a make up artist "do us up." We spent four hours filming the brief piece. Dahling, it was simply exhausting. No, actually, it was invigorating and fun.
  • We hosted a Green Drinks event in Seattle for 350+ people the evening of that last shoot. OK, then we were exhausted.
  • Today, we're shot a combination commercial/green Christmas hint segment for CW11 in Seattle which did a fabulous job shooting a similar piece with Corey for Green Halloween.

On the written word front:

  • We wrote a piece for the second issue of Positively Green magazine
  • We're mentioned in Edible Seattle magazine
  • Blog story/interviews over a few days for U.S. News and World Report
  • We wrote blog posts for Kiwi magazine, Baby Loves Disco, Project Green at CW11, Sweet Solar Home, Green for Good, among many others
  • By the end of this week, we will have written a total of 14 articles and guest blog posts this month!

And to round off last week's record-breaking craziness, we were invited to do two radio interviews in upcoming months, one on Chat with Women and the other with The Dr. Pat Show, as well as be speakers at the Better Living Show in Portland next March,

Next week we leave for California where we hope to meet some of you at the Eco Gift Festival in Santa Monica, December 12, 13 and 14. Be sure to stop by and say hi!

She's a winner

Please feel free to continue to send us your ideas and photos so we can add them to our website. The winner of this giveaway was Leslie C. You can read what she wrote here. We used www.Random.org to select the winner at random from among all the participants.

And speaking of winners...
Lynn is a member of quite a few social networks. But the one where she has found the greatest group of supportive women is www.SavorTheSuccess.com We are proud to have been invited to participate in their very classy holiday catalogue along with other female entrepreneurs who, each in her own way, is trying to make a difference. Please take a look at the great gift ideas. And if you're a woman searching for a terrific group to join, consider STS. There is no cost for a regular membership.
