Fresh Celebrate Green News January 21, 2009
Uh oh
So you probably just received the Village update even if you're not a villager and have no interest in being one. And if you are a villager, you already received that email on Monday. Please ignore it. One day I promise I will get the system down. At least it's not paper! Apologies, Lynn
Need content for a blog or article? We're happy to oblige
In December 2008, we wrote 15 articles for publication in magazines, newspapers and blogs (not including our own). Even for quick writers, this is a lot. For us, it was overwhelming. We've come up with what we think is a better way to fulfill the demand for articles on celebrating green.
If you're a blogger or journalist and would like to receive a brief article, plus a tip and review once or twice a month, let us know. We will send content you are free to use in any way you choose as long as we are credited. Take the article intact, select parts or simply be inspired. We also are happy to be interviewed on the topic of the month.
Articles will reference upcoming holidays or celebrations of our choosing. In addition, if you write for magazines with a long lead time, you'll be happy to know that we also will supply ideas for articles four or five months down the road.
If you're interested in being on our self-syndication list or know someone who would be, or would like to discuss custom articles for a fee, just let us know.
New blog means more celebrating green with us
This week marks a new step for us. We've reinvented our blog so that it has a bit more flexibility and it's now on our own server. We still need to work out a few kinks and you may notice more changes as we go along, but most importantly, We're committing to blogging at least twice a week. Corey will be keeping readers up to date on our comings and goings and Lynn will supply a tip and a review in each post.
If you've got ideas you'd like us to blog about, a new product or service we can write up or anything else blogworthy, just let us know.
Ebooks make great green gifts for any occasion
Not all gifts have to cost money in order to be worthwhile and appreciated. One of the best things about the Internet is how it's made information available at no cost. As we know, information is power, but just as important when you're thinking green, accessing e-books makes relatively little impact on the environment. An e-book may not be a gift worthy of a 50th birthday, but it can be a thoughtful way to celebrate a friends' achievements, encourage them or let them know you're thinking of them.
Admittedly, many, but not all, e-books cost nothing because the authors hope you'll buy something from them, but this doesn't lessen the value of the information in them. If you've never downloaded one, much less passed one on, give it a try the next time you want to gift a web-savvy friend.
Depending on your recipient's interests, you can find and download e-books on every topic imaginable. Google, then go for it, but here are a few ideas to get you started.
For a gardener. Organic Gardening. Learn the simple secrets to a flourishing garden that will keep all those yummy veggies free of pesticides.
For parents. The Brain Science behind Building High Self-Esteem. Science has come a long way in terms of understanding the developing brain and parents can use this information to help their children achieve the healthy sense of self that underlies happiness and success.
For anyone ready to start living a healthier life. The Start Guide, 7 Keys to a Better Body. Do you know someone who wants to improve their health and fitness, but doesn't know where to start? Natasha Linton's e-book will encourage them on their way. From getting an assessment to see where they stand healthwise to setting goals and planning workouts, Natasha is there every step of the way.
For a student. Catch the Spirit, a Student's Guide to Community Service. Young people want to be involved in changing the world, they just don't know how to do it. This e-book offers lots of ideas.
For the family cook. Kitchen Companion, Your Food Safe Handbook. Eating organic isn't the only thing we need to think about when it comes to protecting our families around food. Shopping, storing and handling are all areas we need to consider. Learn about food safety in this compact guide.
For the person who has everything. ID Theft, What's it All About? Almost everyone needs to learn how to protect their identity. What a nice gift to give anyone who uses the Internet or buys with a credit card. Wait! Isn't that just about everyone in the U.S.?
