Green bits

Did you catch our TV news segment on greening kids parties and celebrations? It was syndicated to stations all around the U.S. If it hasn't been on in your area yet, it still might be. But if you'd like to see it now so you know what to look for, click here and please leave a comment. And if you see it on your local station, would you please let us know?

We've got a great new Green HalloweenTM sponsor, Surf Sweets, a line of better for you natural and organic candies fortified with vitamin C (with no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners). Surf Sweets are made without corn syrup and produced in a facility free of the 10 most common allergens. One percent of the sale of all .9 oz Sour Berry Bears Snack Packs will be donated to one of our non-profit partners, Treeswing.

And speaking of Green Halloween, as a result of our trip to New York, it looks like this grass roots initiative may have a presence in the Big Apple this year. Watch for more about this and if you want to help bring Green Halloween to your neck of the woods, sign up for information at www.GreenHalloween.org

Looking for the perfect gift for a birthday or any other occasion? Check out our blogroll at www.CelebrateGreen.net/blog We've got loads of links to the best, most creative ideas that are easy on your wallet as well as the Earth. In addition, we list a number of non-profits with inspiring missions, many of which you may not know about, like Craft Hope which offers the opportunity for anyone to make a doll and contribute it to a child in need.

News from New York

Wish we could give you all the details of our trip to NYC, but we're still in the early discussion stages on the various projects. As soon as we can let the cat out of the bag, we will!

But, we can say that we spent time with a number of incredible people, some of whom we'd only "met" online, and others who were new to us. Their interest in what we are doing, their desire and willingness to help and support our message, was thrilling.

One evening, we enjoyed a party with a number of fellow members of the entrepreneurial women's group, www.SavorTheSuccess.com at the home of one of the members, Rupa Shah. Rupa, who owns the jute bag company, www.BringItInABag.com, gave birth to a beautiful boy only five weeks earlier, and had spent three days at the stationery show, but still managed to create a beautiful setting for the gathering. What a fabulous group of women, online and in person. If you're a woman with a business, we suggest you give Savor the Success a try.

We stayed in a hotel in Times Square. Lynn couldn't get over how they had cleaned up that part of the city. It felt Las Vegas crazy, but was almost pristine--and safe. But green has yet to reach the hotel in any substantial way. They did have a sign asking guests to consider not turning in their towels every day, but that was about it. We've obviously got our work cut out for us on our next visit!
