Green Halloween & Celebrate Green in the news
Wow! We've been getting a lot of play and mentions lately. Very exciting. Here are a few:
- Toronto Sun
- NWCN Northwest News with Shaniqua Manning
- Natural Home
- Just Cause
- Working Mother
- Stacey Kannenberg on Toginet Radio
- Green Patriot radio
- NPR Atlanta
- Two segments on AM Northwest in Portland, one for Halloween and the other to be held for the holiday season
We also returned to NPR's Tell me More with Michel Martin for a segment on Green Halloween. On the video front, we produced four exclusive videos for Mothering magazine's website, and we have the lead article in their November issue out this week. See below for our Parents TV gig. Add to this lots of blogs and you'll get a taste of what we've been up to.
Celebrate Green! radio debuts Wednesday
Thanks to our dear friend, supporter and connector extraordiniare, Stacey Kannenberg, we have our own radio show on Toginet Radio. Better yet, we're part of an amazing group of women who over the next months expect to revolutionize the airwaves!
You'll be able to listen live starting Wednesday, November 4 at 10 a.m. PST and later, to download the podcasts to listen on your own schedule.
Check us out here and spread the word. We'll be featuring incredible guests, and lots of the eco-friendly, creative, affordable special occasion ideas we've become famous for.
Green Halloween, a first for NYC
The difference between three years ago, when we celebrated the first Green Halloween in the Seattle area and today, when you can barely use the word Halloween without green attached, is incredible!

There were great events around the country, including in NYC where for the first time, we had an official presence and where we were fortunate enough to spend the holiday.
We were honored to partner with Dr. Oz's organization, HealthCorps, as well as with Action Arts League in presenting a fun-filled festival for kids and their families. One of the highlights was the Trick or Treat Trail through almost a dozen neighborhood stores that offered alternative treats and treasures to conventional candy. The kids loved not only receiving the snacks, but also, books, sweatshirts and other items from store owners. Kostume Kult showed up with boxes and boxes of costumes and gave them away. And of course sponsors like Larabar, Cascadian Farm, Revolution Foods, Honest Tea, Pirate's Booty and more, filled everyone's pumpkins with goodies.

Watch for our two segments on Parents TV
When we arrived in NYC, there were about eight boxes awaiting us at our hotel and another eight at the studio. From across the country, we had asked for products to showcase during our green baby shower segment for Parents TV with talented host, Juli Auclair.
You would not believe the beautiful, unique (and, in one case, delicious) items we had the privilege of showing off. Unfortunately, as often happens, we were not able to show everything and for those things we did, we could not name the sources. But of course, when the segment airs, well have a page featuring links to all the products (and where to find them), and in the meantime, we'll be blogging like mad, twittering and finding other ways to highlight all these gorgeous, eco-friendly items. We are so grateful to all of the amazing companies that provided product for this segment. Thank you! And if you're planning a baby shower, stay tuned for the low down.
The green baby shower segment will appear in January. The greening Christmas one comes out next month, both on Parent magazine's video channel Parents TV. Be sure to watch for them!
Green Girl update
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to support Corey in Project Green Search. Unfortunately, although she came in second in the number of votes (thanks to all of you!), it appears the rules were changed part way through when the decision was made to have the judges, instead of the vote count, choose the 10 finalists.
Naturally, we were disappointed, but we were so appreciative of our amazing friends and fans who voted in droves. And we were moved by so many of your comments. It truly was an amazing, inspiring experience to be a part of this, even if it didn't play out as we had hoped. Thank you again for all your support. Honestly, that meant more than winning!
