Quick, easy, green birthday place cards
Most of our immediate family just returned from Coeur d’Alene, ID, where we spent a wonderful week together.
These annual vacations wouldn’t be complete without a dual birthday celebration for our granddaughters who were born four days apart.
The day before the big event, I was sitting in the shade of a huge maple tree on the property we were renting. I looked up and where most people would see a canopy of perfectly formed leaves, I saw—place cards!
In my craft box, I luckily had a white paint pen (not an eco-friendly item, I’m afraid). If I hadn’t, I’d have painted on the names by hand which would have taken a lot more than the five minutes it did to whip out ten “cards.”
Everyone loved the results.
But for me, the best part was the next day when I took them outside and dropped them here and there.
I imagined the startled glances of the renters who followed us or the people next door when the leaves blew by, embellished with our names.
And I hoped they’d smile.
