Celebrate Beautiful Sweets!
Last week I paid a visit to Denver. Among things that made it a terrific trip was getting to meet in person, Bob Minkus, owner of my favorite cookie company, Beautiful Sweets.
Bob is one of the first business owners we “met,” when we launched Celebrate Green!
I love sugar cookies and enjoy buying decorated ones for gifts. I never thought there would be a company making decorated organic sugar cookies until I did a search and up popped Beautiful Sweets.
Bob was kind enough to send us some samples and I was hooked!
Beautiful Sweets cookies are handmade and hand decorated. Each one is a small masterpiece almost (but not quite) too good to eat.
Not too long ago, Bob added a gluten free alternative which I tried and found to taste just as good as the gluten-filled ones (though I do admit I’m no gourmet-shove a sugar cookie in my general direction and I’m a goner).
Because running Beautiful Sweets evidently isn’t enough of a challenge, a few months ago, Bob opened a wonderful cafe/wine bar, Delizios, in Littleton which is where I met him. If you’re ever in town, no matter what time of day or evening, you’ll want to stop by Delizios for great food-paninis, gelato, salads-and fine wines. Loved eating on the patio on a gorgeous day!
Whenever possible, Bob selects local, organic items for his menus. As we always say, it’s not an all or nothing deal. The fact that he is doing what he can to support healthier alternatives gets a “bravo!” from us.
After lunch at Bob’s place, my husband, son and I headed to the kitchen where the Beautiful Sweets magic happens at the capable hands of Jane (see below). Jane is an artist and her contribution to the dozens of cookie designs is evident. I really enjoyed seeing the operation close up. Kind of like when you have a friend with a new home. How much more fun it is when you finally visit and see where she lives!
Now every time I order a new batch of Beautiful Sweets cookies, I’ll imagine Jane making them just for me!
