3 Eco Beauty Lines Worth Celebrating

by Corey

We receive a lot of requests to review product. We say “no” to many, and even those we say “yes” to, understand that we won’t promote a product we can’t stand behind. We’re particularly picky about beauty and skincare products. Our stance is, if a product is not safe enough to eat, it doesn’t belong on our skin. (Here’s an article I recently wrote for PracticallyGreen.com with more on the subject.)

But these three lines are Celebrate Green approved. And even though we’re big fans of DIY beauty products (it’s easy- and fun! - we promise!) we think these lines are so (eco) fab, they’re worth considering:

Beecology

Why we love Beecology: Preservative-free, PEG free, Sulfate-Free, SLS free. 10% of net profits donated to charitable causes of the customer’s choice. And get this, the majority of Beecology’s equipment is repurposed or made from recycled machinery. Bee-utiful!

derma e

Why we love derma e: After meeting this company at Expo West, and being impressed with what we saw, we tried dermaE’s Microdermabrasion Scrub, winner of Delicious Living magazine’s 2011 Beauty and Body award for best exfoliant. We can see why Delicious Living loved it. We did too. Effective, clean/safe ingredients (including Dead Sea salt and volcanic sand!) and sustainable packaging inspire us to celebrate this product too. (Oh, and did we mention the are manufactured using wind energy?)

Further more, derma e products are free of parabens, phthalates, SLS, petrolatum, mineral oil, artificial colors and are GMO0free, 100% vegan and cruelty-free. (Well done, derma e!) A percentage of all product sales goes to The Paraguay Project, derma e’s three tiered charitable program supporting the people, rainforest and land of Paraguay. The company also donates regularly to the Special Olympics, the World Wildlife Fund, Heal the Bay Santa Monica, The Coalition to End Family Violence, Meet Each Need with Dignity (MEND) and the Brittany Foundation.

Juice Beauty

Why we love Juice Beauty: Recycled packaging (not just recyclable), manufactured using solar, and organic ingredients to boot? This powerful and innovative beauty line is turning (eco) heads. (Including ours.) We tried their Green Apple Peel Full Strength, Stem Cellular Repair Eye Treatment and Stem Cellular Repair Moisturizer and we’re immediately impressed. (Whole Living, InStyle and Delicious Living magazines were won over as well - read their reviews here.) High five, Juice Beauty! Add us to your fan club.
