Almost missed America Recycles Day
Oh my gosh, we of the “every day’s a celebration duo,” almost missed noting for all our Sunday readers, that today is America Recycles Day. Sorry about that. We were so busy recycling and repurposing for an upcoming speaking engagement and TV segments, that neither of us got to the computer until late in the day. But we’re here now and that’s what counts, right?
Anyway, like all great ideas, America Recycles Day should really be America Recycles Decade-at least!
If you’re reading this on the day or after, why not right this minute, make a pledge to recycle, reuse or repurpose something you normally toss.
We know that the majority of our readers are avid recyclers, at least when it comes to the easy stuff, whatever your city or town collects. But what about the types of things they don’t? Like bubble wrap, envelopes with clear windows, lids and screw tops, pens and styrofoam?
Whatever you are now tossing daily-weekly or monthly, vow to hang on to. Next, come up for a “re-use” for the item. Comb the internet, wrack your brain, ask a kid, whatever. The point is not just to hoard what you’ve been throwing out, but to find a use for it.
And please share with us whatever it is you decide save from the landfill.
