More About the Book
Maybe they'll have to become famous to get there, but seeing their names in the tabloids and being chased by paparazzi is not their idea of fun. (Well, maybe just once.) As for the money, they do hope to make back their investment in printing the book (see two paragraphs down for the explosion that rocked their world), building the website and associated costs that have made a not-insignificant dent in savings for Lynn's old age which she is fast approaching. Also, they are committed to giving money from the first printing to Treeswing and Healthy Child Healthy World, two of their favorite non-profits.
(So, if you do happen to have a contact at Oprah, feel free to pass on the word about Lynn and Corey and what they're doing. You just may play a major role in changing the world along with them.)
Anyway, a few months after the first Green Halloween, Lynn and Corey were offered a contract to write Celebrate Green! Creating Eco-Savvy Holidays, Celebrations and Traditions for the Whole Family.
Unfortunately, the path to publication proved to be like the first weeks home with a newborn: packed with surprises and sleepless nights. Seven weeks before the book was to go to print, the publisher went out of business. Corey and Lynn approached two other publishers, both of whom showed interest, but were unable to bring the book out until fall 2009 at the earliest.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you most likely realize that the power of green has seized the American imagination and that waiting a year to bring out the book would make about as much sense as buying a gas guzzler during an energy crisis. So the two decided to take on publishing it themselves. Working with designer, Jeff Duckworth, Lynn (Corey was busy with Green Halloween), edited and designed it in six weeks (which could explain why you may find one or two typoos.) When the book went to print, Corey and Lynn felt as elated and exhausted as when they'd given birth. Hence, their bouncing baby book announcement:
Once the book was at the printer, PDFs were zipped off to reviewers. To sum up what dozens of Celebrate Green! readers had to say prior to its release: "Wow!" (But don't just take Lynn and Corey's word for it. Read some of the reviews.)
Corey and Lynn believe the overwhelmingly positive feedback is the result of the book offering so much more than anyone expected. Not only is it bursting with tips and ideas for celebrating green, but it boasts recipes, craft projects, and actual facts! Yes! If you're interested in the "why's" behind their alternatives, you'll find them. If you only want to figure out what the heck to get your mother-in-law for Christmas that will make her sing your praises to her son without costing you or the planet, it's there too.
Celebrate Green! is sprinkled with personal anecdotes because, as amazing as it may seem, Corey and Lynn are real, live human beings. You get to meet, know and (hopefully) enjoy them through the book. And once you know them, you'll begin to fall for their ideas even if you're a bit skeptical at first. They don't hit you over the head and make you feel like a complete eco-idiot for not jumping on your bicycle, and heading to the food co-op to stock up on a year's worth of beeswax birthday candles. They simply offer you so many sensible, interesting, and creative ideas that you'll find it hard to resist trying some of them.
If you're looking for a serious tome about greening up events, you've come to the wrong place. But if you're seeking a fun-filled romp jammed with practical, inexpensive, joyful ways to celebrate in eco-friendly fashion, you're in business with Celebrate Green!

Corey and Lynn love talking to their fans so feel free to contact them. (Note: Lynn is especially sensitive. If you're going to criticize, please do so gently. On the other hand, if you've got a great idea for them to incorporate in the website or use in their next book, that, they're dying to hear.)
