Top 10 New Year's Resolutions Get an Eco-Makeover From Mother-Daughter Authors of Celebrate Green!
Seattle, WA December 22, 2008-- Resolutions like lose weight, reduce stress and get organized are so 2008.
For 2009, mother-daughter Seattle area writers Lynn Colwell and Corey Colwell-Lipson suggest considering "ecosolutions" like those below, excerpted from their new book, Celebrate Green! Creating Eco-Savvy Holidays, Celebrations and Traditions for the Whole Family.

Get fit
|
Ride your bike or walk for transportation.

Educate yourself about issues that affect you, your family, your community, the global community and the planet. Strive to learn one new fact every day and share what you know with others. You could also take a class in biodynamic gardening or even earn a "green" MBA

Drink less alcohol

Drink less, but if you do consume, buy organic/biodynamically grown and give preference to glass bottles over aluminum

Quit smoking
|
Quit smoking and donate the money you previously spent on cigarettes(and/or the equivalent of time you spent smoking), to an organization that is working to prevent cancer.

Reduce stress
|
Pamper yourself with produce you make with organic food, herbs and oils, and only buy beauty products that are free of toxic chemicals (www.CosmeticDatabase.com). Patronize organic and eco-friendly spas.

Take a trip
|
Take an eco-vacation as close to home as possible (and buy carbon offsets for travel).

Get organized
|
Reduce the amount of "stuff" you acquire (and accumulate.). Take care of what you own and find ways to reuse or recycle everything else. Buy only high-quality, eco-friendly products that won't need replacing, and clean your home only with homemade or non-toxic products from trusted companies.
